Saturday 25th November – The 844’s

Local rhythm and blues band The 844s will be playing three sets at Wadsworth Community Centre on Saturday 25 November. The event is taking place to help raise funds for the refurbishment of the centre’s kitchen. Admission costs £5, doors open at 7.30pm and the bar will be open until 12:00. Food and cask ales will be available.

The 844s are vocalist and harmonica ace Dave Rigg, lead guitarist Martin McGroarty - a great player with a long musical pedigree, bassist Jerome Dineen, drummer Jim Duffy, and rhythm guitarist and second vocalist Wally Woodcock. The band plays a mixture of original compositions and covers, ranging from slow-burn blues to high-energy rock.

Get yer dancing shoes on for this gig. They’re bound to get the joint jumping.

In less than four weeks we welcome Luke Jackson, a singer/songwriter from Canterbury. With a bold, distinctive voice, an assured stage presence and a sweet, percussive guitar style, Luke is a confident and captivating live performer. In 2013 he was nominated in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for both the Horizon Award for Best Emerging Talent and The Young Folk Category.  He was also winner of Fatea’s “Male Artist of the Year 2014” and again in 2016.
